Day 1 - You are on the right path - 7 Days of Spiritual Practice

Sadhana - Day 1 of Spiritual Readings with Liz Glover Wilson

I am honored to share some of my spiritual practice with you. I believe that if you practice opening your heart each day; pure consciousness, divine power and Gods love will be revealed in your life.

This is a daily practice that is unique to you. A sacred time (and space) that allows you time to sit quietly, and reflect, to read inspirations and scriptures.

As a Christ follower, a Yogi, an Ayurvedic Coach and a daughter of the Divine, I invite you with open arms to find your connection to a liberated life through the contemplative practice.

Contemplative Practice:

When Ralph Waldo Emerson - the American philosopher and poet, saw the expanding industrial and technological advancements, he could see the possible consequences. He believed these things would separate us from the inspiration that the world of nature inspires. As I seek after Christ-consciousness, I appreciate Emerson's movement of transcendentalism. He taught that divinity (God) is throughout all things (nature and humanity).

The contemplative practice brings us into the space of primordial “sounds of silence’ - creating within oneself, a clear ability to hear, sense, and be-open-to Source. Whether we are in deep meditation, a retreat of silence or just some simple time alone - this daily contemplative practice is an inner practice.

You can carry this practice beyond by allowing quiet after someone has spoken to allow their sharing to be really felt and heard; sensing the soft stillness of nature or the hum of the cosmos. You can touch upon this profound and important element.

You are on the right path:

Today’s practice.

Pause and Be Still
As I enter prayer and the contemplative practice, I pause to be still; to breathe slowly; to re-center my scattered senses upon the presence of the Divine. May myself be guided by the greater Self/God.

but they who wait for the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint. Isaiah 40:31

You are on this planet right now. You are on the right path. That may sound wrong to you, as you are a seeker; trying to find your purpose. You are here because you want your true purpose to be manifested. Exactly! That means you are on the right path of a seeker. The Proverb says, seek and you will find, knock and it will open. So, I invite you to come to your daily sadhana knowing that you are here - a seeker - for a purpose. Rest in that divine knowing.

Yielding Prayer
From justice activist and theologian, Howard Thurman;

Open unto me, light for my darkness
Open unto me, courage for my fear
Open unto me, hope for my despair
Open unto me, peace for my turmoil
Open unto me, joy for my sorrow
Open unto me, strength for my weakness
Open unto me, wisdom for my confusion
Open unto me, forgiveness for my sins
Open unto me, tenderness for my toughness
Open unto me, love for my hates
Open unto me, Thy Self for myself
Lord, Divine, open unto me!

About Self:

Little-“s” self. The little-“s” self refers to ego. It is our anxious mind. Why do we call this our lesser selves. It’s the lens we’re looking through when we feel so disconnected from the good in ourselves and others.

Big-“s” Self. The big-“s” Self is authentic, divine, true light and positive energy. It’s who we are under the layers of societal training. It’s our higher Self.

The Self is who we really are when we burn away the labels we have become accustomed to cling to, the ideas of who we should be, and how we should act, think, love, compete, and rage against ourselves and each other.
